Japanese for Elementary Learners
At the elementary level (N4), you’ll build on what you learned in N5. You’ll be able to read and understand short stories, emails, and everyday texts. You’ll know around 300 kanji characters. Your vocabulary will grow to include more topics, such as food, shopping, travel, and hobbies. Listening will be easier, and you’ll be able to follow conversations on familiar subjects, like asking for directions or talking about your day. You’ll also start making more complex sentences using different grammar patterns, which will help you express yourself more clearly. The N4 level is great for practicing conversations and getting comfortable speaking in real-life situations, like chatting with friends or living in Japan!
